A Canadian Certified Pedorthist (C. Ped (C)) is a regulated healthcare professional specializing in the assessment, design, fabrication, and fitting of custom foot orthotics and therapeutic footwear. At Foot Forward Orthotics & Pedorthics in South Edmonton, our certified Pedorthist helps clients manage foot and lower limb conditions including plantar fasciitis, heel pain, diabetic foot complications, knee pain, and lower back issues. Pedorthists complete rigorous education in biomechanics, orthotic design, and lower limb anatomy to provide evidencebased foot care solutions for Edmonton residents.

In Edmonton, both Pedorthists and Podiatrists help with foot care, but in different ways. A Canadian Certified Pedorthist (C. Ped (C)) specializes in custom foot orthotics, custom footwear, and bracing to improve mobility and relieve pain through non-invasive treatments. A Podiatrist (DPM) is a medical foot doctor who diagnoses conditions, prescribes medications, and performs minor foot surgery.

No prescription is required to book an appointment at Foot Forward Orthotics & Pedorthics in South Edmonton. You can schedule an orthotic assessment directly with our certified Pedorthist.

However, if you plan to submit a claim to your extended health insurance provider (such as Alberta Blue Cross, Manulife, Sun Life, or Canada Life), most insurance companies require a prescription from a family doctor. We recommend obtaining a prescription before your appointment to ensure smooth insurance reimbursement.

For Edmonton residents covered under AADL (Alberta Aids to Daily Living), VAC (Veterans Affairs Canada), NIHB (Non-Insured Health Benefits), CAF (Canadian Armed Forces), or RCMP programs, specific documentation is required—contact us at (780) 293-5114 for guidance.

We do not direct bill for custom foot orthotics. Full payment of $560 is required at your initial appointment, and we provide you with a detailed receipt for insurance reimbursement.

Most Edmonton residents with extended health benefits can submit claims to their insurance providers (Alberta Blue Cross, Manulife, Sun Life, Great-West Life, etc.) and receive reimbursement within 2-4 weeks. We provide all necessary documentation including itemized receipts and treatment details to make your insurance claim process as smooth as possible.
